Covering ancient castles, stunning scenery, bronze age stone circles and battlefields that shaped the course of the country, this tour ticks more boxes than most.

A visit to the ‘Misty Isle’ is one of those magical experiences you should do at least once in your lifetime, as the geological landscape of the island is simply breathtaking and will stay with you forever.

You will require a two-night stay in the City of Inverness.

We are more than happy to help with recommendations for accommodation and below are a list of partners we work closely with on our tours. The Hairy Coo have reserved room allocations with each of these suppliers and some preferred pricing.

Please make sure to mention The Hairy Coo when contacting them. We have an excellent working partnership with each provider. It is our advice to always book directly with a provider, rather than using a large online booking site such as booking.com. Booking providers charge small businesses' a significant amount of commission. After the events of the last year it is so important we all support local businesses who have suffered greatly due to the direct hit on the tourism sector.

Hostel: [Black Isle Bar Hostel] (https://www.blackislebrewery.com/hostel/)

B&B: [Adrians' Guesthouse] (https://www.adriansguesthouse.co.uk) This is a newly refurbished and highly recommended guesthouse please call (+44) 1463 232953 to discuss rates.

Mention that you are a Hairy Coo guest to ensure an early breakfast and a discounted overnight rate is offered to ALL direct bookings!

Hotel: [Penta Hotel Inverness] (https://www.pentahotels.com/hotels/united-kingdom/inverness)

If you would like to research other places to stay, then we would kindly ask that you use our city centre drop-off point to reference which location in Inverness you should book. The drop off is located at 26 Queensgate, Inverness IV1 1DJ.

Once you have booked your accommodation, we ask that you email contact@thehairycoo.com before your departure with the address for our records.

We also strongly recommend you book accommodation with a flexible cancellation policy in the event that you need to self isolate and cannot come on tour - we'd hate for you to lose out!

We recommend you bring warm and/or waterproof clothing, no matter what the forecast appears to be…Scotland’s weather is very unpredictable!

Don’t forget your camera to capture all the lovely scenery and wildlife you’ll encounter on your tour, which you can later share with us online. #JoinTheHerd

We must remind you that while picturesque and quaint, many of the suppliers in smaller towns across the Highlands do still prefer cash payments

You are permitted to bring along both a carry-on bag one larger piece of luggage per person, such as a suitcase or backpack. This can weigh up to 15kgs per passenger and does not need to stick to any dimension restrictions as we understand those vary.

Food is readily available at the majority of stops on tour, but you are more than welcome to bring snacks and cold packed lunch on board.

COVID-19 and Omnicron UPDATE

Departures must meet a minimum number of passengers in order to operate. Passengers affected by cancellations will be contacted the day before departure to discuss a full refund or transfer to another operator.

Lastly, a few reminders in relation to Covid-19 and the Omicron variant which continue to spread rapidly across Scotland and the UK as a whole.

  • Masks ARE compulsory on board.

  • Hand sanitiser will be available and your Driver-Guide will regularly wipe down high contact areas throughout the day(s) you are travelling with us.

  • Social distancing is not possible on our coaches and we ask that you please respect your fellow travellers' personal space, and be patient whilst others are boarding and departing the vehicle. Everyone will be coping with the relaxed restrictions at their own pace and we would like to create a friendly environment for everyone on tour.

  • Due to reduced staffing, our morning on-call service is not available. This means we will not be contactable on the morning of departure. Therefore it is important that you contact us with any questions before your departure day, and plan your timings to the departure point in advance. However most commonly asked questions are covered in our FAQ section of the website, https://www.thehairycoo.com/essential-info/

Please note, we leave promptly and cannot wait for latecomers, so it is vital to arrive early outside Deacon's House Cafe.

  • We do not want the operation of our tours to play a part in endangering locals to Covid-19, especially in the remote Highland locations.

-We urge you to get in touch with us via email if you experience any Covid-19 symptoms in the days leading up to your tour. Our tours are fully refundable up to 24 hours before departure.

However, if you experience symptoms within 24 hours of departure, you will not be permitted to join the tour. In that instance, you will not be reimbursed, which is why we urge all guests to consider having adequate travel insurance.

  • All guests on board will be required to complete a Track and Trace form prior to boarding the coach. We also ask all guests to download the Protect.Scotland app whilst visiting Scotland. In addition, FREE Lateral Flow test kits are available from most pharmacies or Covid testing sites. Contained within the test kits are instructions on how to take the test and how to log your results.

You do not need to be a British citizen to do this

Due to our continued commitment to keeping our guests, colleagues and tour suppliers safe, we request that ALL passengers with The Hairy Coo take a lateral flow test and log the result at My Covid Result before your tour departure. Once you log your result you will receive an email and/or text which you may require to present too your Driver-Guide on the morning of your tour as evidence of your negative Covid-19 status.

We actively encourage everyone to take one on the morning of your tour so we each play our part in being responsible and keeping one another safe.

Please let us know if you have any questions and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Kind Regards

The Hairy Coo Team
